Company will donate one mattress for each purchased Sunday, March 22

SOUTHFIELD, Mich.,  –The Salvation Army of Metro Detroit has been chosen by Art Van Furniture as a beneficiary of the company’s one-day matching mattress donation at all metro Detroit Art Van stores.

On Sunday, March 22, the Warren-based family retailer will donate one new mattress for each mattress bought by a customer to several nonprofit organizations in metro Detroit, including The Salvation Army William Booth Shelter in Detroit.

“We have seen a considerable influx in single adults and families turning to the Shelter for something many of us take for granted – a good night’s sleep in a warm, dry and safe environment,” said The Salvation Army of Metro Detroit’s General Secretary Major John Turner. “We are beyond grateful Art Van Furniture has generously offered to assist us in maintaining the level of care and support we provide for individuals through our shelters.”

The William Booth Shelter is part of Acres of Hope at Harbor Light Center, 3737 Lawton, Detroit.

"Art Van Furniture is thrilled to celebrate 50 years of serving Michigan communities, and is doing so in part with a new ‘giving initiative’ for every month this year. The mattress donation in March is a wonderful opportunity to support Michigan families in need," said Art Van Elslander, Founder and Chairman of Art Van Furniture.
