Nonprofit will receive portion of total sales from “Straight No Chaser” a cappella concert

SOUTHFIELD, Mich. The Salvation Army of Metro Detroit has partnered with the Royal Oak Music Theater and MAGIC 105.1 Radio to offer metro Detroit families the opportunity to give back by going to a performance of Straight No Chaser, an award-winning male a cappella group. The 10-voice group will take the stage to perform a variety of hits and Christmas music on Sunday, Dec. 6 at 7 p.m. A dollar from each ticket sold will be donated to The Salvation Army.

Originally formed more than a dozen years ago while students together at Indiana University, Straight No Chaser's clever combination of humor and a cappella harmony has earned them tons of fans, millions of views on YouTube and a contract with Atlantic Records.

“We encourage people to come out to enjoy a fun evening with the musical talents of the men of Straight No Chaser,” said Major John Turner, general secretary for The Salvation Army of Metro Detroit. “With the demand for our services up 60 percent, we hope this will be a new way to attract new donors hoping to give back and have a bit of fun along the way.”

The Salvation Army’s iconic red kettles will be outside the front doors of The Royal Oak Music Theater and available for people to make donations as they enter and exit the show on Dec. 6.

Ticket prices are $22 in advance or $25 at the door. To purchase tickets in advance, visit www.royaloakmusictheater.com or call the Royal Oak Music Theater Box Office at (248) 399-2980, ext. 3.
