The Salvation Army of Metro Detroit, 101.1 WRIF-FM, Glendale Auto Supply and Co-op Services Credit
SOUTHFIELD, Mich. — Each and every dollar counts when it comes to helping our neighbors in need. To celebrate this notion, The Salvation Army of Metro Detroit, 101.1 WRIF-FM, Glendale Auto Supply and Co-op Services Credit Union locations across metro Detroit have joined forces to help our community this season – $1 at a time.
Now through Dec. 23, metro Detroit Glendale Auto Supply and Co-op Services Credit Union customers will have the opportunity to donate $1 to The Salvation Army to receive a paper Red Kettle that can be signed and displayed in the store.
“We were looking for a charitable cause to give back to this Christmas, and The Salvation Army was a perfect fit. We hope to sell at least 600 kettles, and we plan to give an additional dollar for every kettle sold,” said Glendale Auto Supply co-owner Rosanne Ponkowski.
The funds collected from selling the paper Red Kettles will help maintain vital human services such as food and shelter for children and adults throughout the year.
“To help put these donations in perspective, for every 10 paper Red Kettles sold, we can feed one hungry person for a month,” said Major John Turner, general secretary for The Salvation Army of Metro Detroit. “With a 60 percent increase this year in the need for our services, we are extremely appreciative of the WRIF, Glendale Auto Supply and Co-op Services Credit Union’s efforts to help us make a difference in the community.”
Additionally, the sales associate at each business who sells the most paper Red Kettles will win tickets to an exclusive 101.1 WRIF-FM event.
Glendale Auto Supply has locations in Dearborn Heights, Farmington, Lake Orion, Livonia, Southfield and Walled Lake.
