Red Wings Alumni Face Off Against Oakland Jr. Grizzlies, Troy Sting and Troy Youth Hockey Association to Benefit The Salvation Army
SOUTHFIELD, Mich. – Coaches and alumni from the Oakland Jr. Grizzlies, Troy Sting and Troy Youth Hockey Association hit the ice against the Detroit Red Wings Alumni Association this past Saturday, Feb. 4, at Troy Sports Center, for a star-studded evening that benefitted The Salvation Army.
Before the game, a check was presented to The Salvation Army by sponsors The Farbman Group and Hennessey Capital, and donations collected from Oakland Jr. Grizzlies, Troy Sting and Troy Youth Hockey Association, for $25,000. All proceeds from this third annual event went towards the 25th annual Salvation Army Bed & Club Radiothon, airing live on News/Talk 760 WJR from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 24. The Radiothon is the No. 1 source of financial support for the nonprofit's Bed & Bread Program.
Red Wings in attendance included Eddie Mio, John Ogrodnick, Brent Fedyk, Shawn Burr, John Finstrom and Mickey Redman, with WJR on-air personality Warren Pierce serving as the evening's emcee.
NAI Farbman, The Farbman Group and Hennessey Capital generously underwrote the entire event.
The game featured two 30-minute halves. The Red Wings dominated for the most part, the final score being upwards of 10-2. A great time was had by all! Check out some pictures from the evening's festivities below.
