Beautiful Day for Royal Oak Corps Community Center's Outdoor Toy Drop-Off

Dec 17, 2020

On December 11, 2020, the Royal Oak Corps Community Center hosted its first outdoors toy drop-off in place of its normal interclub lunch. The lunch, which would have hosted over 100 interclub members and ended with a toy drive, was not possible due to COVID-19 restrictions, so the staff at Royal Oak switched it up this year. Greeted by a Salvation Army brass quintet filling the air with Christmas cheer, donors drove through the parking lot of the corps, made their toy donations, and were able to enjoy a hot chocolate and holiday cookie. In all, the community donated 1,000 toys and books, which will be distributed to previously screened families in need from December 15-18.

“The Salvation Army is a great resource in our community. My family has been involved with them for years,” said Jay Coslow, a corps Advisory Board member, after dropping off a load of toys to the corps. “We appreciate having them in our town.”
