Coats for Kids 2021 A Great Success, Thanks to Our Community Partners and Donors
Detroit hip-hop radio station FM 97.9 WJLB raised $102,503 and 200 coats during its 39th annual Coats for Kids Radiothon on Saturday, Nov. 6 at the RollerCade in Detroit. Funds raised during the 12-hour Radiothon will also help provide winter accessories for metro Detroit children in need.
We were honored to receive a $75,000 donation from MolinaCares Accord, with Heidi McGlinnen presenting the check. The Salvation Army supporters enjoyed a live appearance from rapper Sada Baby, who donated 50 coats, and the North End Bandits brought 45 coats for the 5th consecutive yearly donation.
We are thankful for our volunteer team from Woodside Bible Church who helped us collect and sort coats, and for the $25,000 from Ford Motor Company Fund. With the help from our community partners, we will be able to keep hundreds of additional families warm this winter!
