Donations to The Salvation Army of Metro Detroit to be Doubled Through New Year’s Eve

Dec 20, 2021

SOUTHFIELD, Mich. (Dec. 15, 2021) — Beginning Friday, Dec. 17 through New Year’s Eve, all donations to The Salvation Army of Metro Detroit, up to $530,000, will be doubled and fully matched, dollar-for-dollar, thanks to The Consortium of Hope.

The Consortium of Hope is a group of local community leaders and businesses who join forces every year to help The Salvation Army reach its fundraising goal. This year, the nonprofit is looking to raise $8.3 million to ensure Hope Marches On for those who need it the most in Wayne, Oakland and Macomb counties.

Even though many of the iconic red kettles will be off the streets by Christmas Eve, there are still plenty of opportunities for supporters to donate to the nonprofit organization. Salvation Army supporters can help support the nonprofit’s efforts by:

  • Texting GIFT to 24365

  • Visiting salmich.org

  • Calling 877-SAL-MICH

  • Sending a check, made payable to The Salvation Army, to: 16130 Northland Dr., Southfield, MI 48075

“Now more than ever, we need the community’s support,” said Major Timothy Meyer, general secretary, metro Detroit area commander and chief operating officer for The Salvation Army Eastern Michigan Division. “No amount is too small and every donation makes a difference – going twice as far to help feed, shelter, clothe and financially assist thousands of metro Detroiters who need it most.”

Contributions made during The Salvation Army’s 2021 Red Kettle Christmas Campaign are tax-deductible, and all donations benefit local families and individuals in the communities they are given.
