SOUTHFIELD, Mich. (Nov. 21, 2018) – The Salvation Army of Metro Detroit is teaming up with the Ford Motor Company Fund to double all red kettle donations on Giving Tuesday, which is slated for Nov. 27. When metro Detroiters donate on Giving Tuesday to The Salvation Army, all amounts, dollar for dollar up to $20,000, will be matched by the Ford Motor Company Fund. For example, a $1 donation will turn into $2, $5 turns into $10, $10 to $20, etc.
There are several ways to give to The Salvation Army of Metro Detroit. Donations will be accepted via:
- In-person at hundreds of red kettles throughout metro Detroit
- Online (click here)
- Mobile by texting SALMICH to 41444
- Phone by calling 877-SAL-MICH
- Traditional mail by sending a check or money order, made payable to The Salvation Army, to: 16130 Northland Dr., Southfield, MI 48075
Donations will support the nonprofit’s 2018 Red Kettle Campaign to help provide critical social services and programs to those in need throughout the metro Detroit area, including feeding and sheltering, outdoor and educational opportunities for at-risk youth, anti-human trafficking initiatives, a free legal aid clinic, emergency disaster services, drug and alcohol rehabilitation programs, and much more. For those who can't donate money, there are other ways for individuals to give back on Giving Tuesday. The Salvation Army is looking to fill volunteer bell ringer shifts at hundreds of red kettle locations throughout Wayne, Oakland and Macomb Counties. Interested individuals can sign up at www.ringbell.org and select a date/time and location that's most convenient for them.
