"Ring For Bling" Is Back! Volunteer Bell Ringers Have Chance to Win A Diamond Necklace
SOUTHFIELD, Mich. (Oct. 1 2019) — The Salvation Army Eastern Michigan Division has once again partnered with iHeart Media to bring back the popular volunteer recruitment initiative “Ring for Bling.” The campaign offers metro Detroiters a chance to win one of six diamond pendant necklaces from Lucido Fine Jewelry with each shift they complete as a volunteer red kettle bell ringer this Christmas season.
Each completed two-hour bell ringing shift at a metro Detroit Red Kettle location will earn volunteers an entry into a drawing for the opportunity to win a diamond necklace, designed by Lucido, valued at $1,000. At the end of the 2019 Red Kettle Campaign, which runs Friday, Nov. 8 until Tuesday, Dec. 24, The Salvation Army will randomly draw six lucky individuals’ names. The volunteer bell ringers will receive their prizes at a special volunteer recognition breakfast event to be held in January 2020.
“The Salvation Army has a fundraising goal of $8 million for the 2019 Red Kettle Campaign, and every site a volunteer fills will prove critical to the success of this year’s mission to “Do The Most Good” for the people of metro Detroit,” said Major Tim Meyer, general secretary and metro Detroit area commander for The Salvation Army Eastern Michigan Division. “In fact, a manned kettle collects an average of $53 per hour in donations, $400 more per day than an unmanned kettle.”
Interested volunteers who would like to give back to a good cause this Christmas season – as well as get the chance to win some bling – need to visit RegisterToRing.com, where they can sign up for bell ringing shifts that best fit their own schedule.

Funds raised by The Salvation Army of Metro Detroit’s Red Kettle Campaign provide more than feeding and sheltering those in need; donations also support critical social services and programs throughout the year including outdoor and educational opportunities for children, Pathway of Hope, William Booth Legal Aid Clinic, Emergency Disaster Services and more.
