With Salvation Army's Help, Sarah Found Housing

Sarah’s life took a difficult turn when she was jailed on Christmas Day and released with no place to go, Janice, a Salvation Army volunteer, recalls. The Salvation Army responded quickly, providing her with a motel stay, clothing, food, and—most importantly—compassion. When her initial plan to stay with a friend fell through, The Salvation Army continued to assist her, purchasing another night at the motel and arranging transportation to a shelter an hour away. They even helped her access much-needed medication she had left behind, guiding her step by step through the process.
With The Salvation Army’s support, Sarah eventually found stable housing. After staying at a women’s shelter, she relocated to a domestic shelter, which helped her secure a safe apartment where she now receives rent assistance. Reflecting on how far she’s come, Sarah shared, “The Salvation Army gave me hope and helped turn my life around.” Her journey is a powerful example of how the Salvation Army goes beyond temporary aid, offering people the resources and care needed to rebuild their lives.
