The Salvation Army and Walmart to Collect Toys for Local Children in Need
SOUTHFIELD, Mich., (Nov. 7, 2019) — The Salvation Army of Metro Detroit is once again working in collaboration with southeast Michigan Walmart locations to collect toys for metro Detroit children in need this Christmas through the Walmart Toy Drive from 8:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 9.
Whether shoppers are running their regular errands or getting ahead on holiday shopping at their local Walmart, a Salvation Army truck will be stationed in the parking lot of participating stores collecting toys, games, seasonal items and clothes. Each Salvation Army corps community center will have its own locally-curated list of items to meet the needs of the community.
Rain or snow won’t stop the toy drive, as a tent will be used for donation collection in the event of inclement weather. For a list of participating Walmart stores, click here.
For those unable to make it to the store that day, there is a searchable online registry with all the items needed; each item requires one click to purchase. Enter “The Salvation Army” in the search bar and select “Michigan” to find a November 9 event registry and start shopping for toys for children in need in your community.
All donations will be distributed before Christmas to families in need.
