The Salvation Army Family Thrift Stores Temporarily Close Donation Centers
SOUTHFIELD, Mich., (July 2, 2020) — The Salvation Army Southeast Michigan Adult Rehabilitation Center (ARC) will temporarily close all donation centers from Friday, July 3 through Monday, July 20.
During this time, all 31 Salvation Army Family Thrift Stores will remain open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Saturday, with extended hours from 9 to 11 a.m. on Wednesdays for seniors, vulnerable adults, pregnant individuals and immunocompromised shoppers.
“We are beyond grateful by the incredible outpouring of donations and support from our southeast Michigan community,” said Envoy Jacqulynn Idzior, The Salvation Army ARC business administrator. “In-kind donations help fund The Salvation Army Southeast Michigan Adult Rehabilitation Center’s independently funded, 180-day residential rehabilitation program for men and women, which has continued to be operational during the COVID-19 pandemic.”
The temporary closure will enable stores and staff to clean, sort and process donated goods. Employees will work to ensure all Family Thrift Stores and Donation Centers are fully prepared to handle donations of gently used clothing, linens, household appliances, furniture, toys, shoes, purses and housewares when they reopen.
Donations will be accepted Tuesday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. starting Tuesday, July 21.

About The Salvation Army Adult Rehabilitation Center
Founded in 1883, The Salvation Army Adult Rehabilitation Center (ARC) is dedicated to helping substance abusing adults bridge the gap on the road to recovery. The ARC provides men and women a holistic faith-based approach to drug and alcohol rehabilitation at its campus in Detroit. With capacity to serve more than 250 program participants, the 180-365-day residential program emphasizes behavioral modification to replace self-defeating habits with more productive, meaningful activities. Residents move at their own pace through journaling; group and one-on-one counseling; work therapy; and classes on chemical dependency, relapse prevention, anger management and more. Completely self-funded, the ARC draws its entire operating budget from the revenue of its 31 Salvation Army thrift stores located in Southeast Michigan.
