The Salvation Army Feels the Impact of Inflation
With inflation higher than it's been in decades, The Salvation Army is feeling the effects. Not only are we seeing a considerable increase in requests for assistance, but we are struggling with keeping food pantry shelves stocked and other programs operating due to supply shortages and rising costs.
“We recognize that everyone is feeling the impact of inflation and we are weathering the rise in food prices and other items for now, but it's certainly a concern of ours moving forward, primarily because of the increase in need throughout the community," said Lt. Colonel John Turner, Divisional Commander of The Salvation Army Great Lakes Division. "To put it simply, need is up, and resources are down. We're so thankful for those supporters who have responded to this crisis by donating. Those donations are often the difference between a stocked food pantry or an empty one, and so on. It makes a big difference.”
Donations of non-perishable goods to the food pantry are always welcome, in addition to monetary contributions to help meet the increased need.
