The Salvation Army of Metro Detroit and Walmart Bring Christmas Joy Through 2020 Angel Tree Campaign

SOUTHFIELD, Mich., (Oct. 30, 2020)The Salvation Army of Metro Detroit is working in collaboration with southeast Michigan Walmart locations to provide Christmas gifts to children in need through its  Angel Tree Campaign beginning Sunday, Nov. 1 through Saturday, Dec. 19.

The Salvation Army Angel Trees will be scattered throughout participating Walmart locations, each featuring tags with a child’s name and wish list. Community members can choose a tag from off the tree at their local Walmart to provide gifts to a local child in need. The gifts will be distributed by The Salvation Army to families in time for Christmas morning.

Once purchased, donations may be dropped off at a storefront donation bin and distributed to families in the community. Participating Walmart stores include:

In addition to selecting a tag from an Angel Tree, Walmart customers can support The Salvation Army by rounding up their purchase to the nearest dollar online and at manned cash registers between Monday, Nov. 2 through Thursday, Dec. 31. Walmart shoppers can also donate to a storefront red kettle, which will return to participating Walmart locations on Saturday, Nov. 21.

Last year, The Salvation Army of Metro Detroit provided the community nearly 167,000 Christmas toys and gifts for children and seniors through toy shops and other gift giving programs.

The Salvation Army’s 2020 Red Kettle Campaign fundraising goal is $8 million. In addition to participating in the Angel Tree Campaign, Salvation Army supporters can help support the nonprofit’s efforts to Rescue Christmas by:
