The Salvation Army of Metro Detroit and Walmart Bring Hope with 2021 Angel Tree Campaign

Nov 17, 2021

SOUTHFIELD, Mich., (Nov. 17, 2021)The Salvation Army of Metro Detroit is working in collaboration with southeast Michigan Walmart locations to provide Christmas gifts to children in need through its Angel Tree Campaign beginning Monday, Nov. 15 through Wednesday, Dec. 15.

The Salvation Army Angel Trees will be scattered throughout participating Walmart locations, each featuring tags with a child’s name and wish list. Community members can choose a tag from off the tree at their local Walmart to provide gifts to a local child in need. The gifts will be distributed by The Salvation Army to families in time for Christmas morning.

Once purchased, donations may be dropped off at a storefront donation bin at participating Walmart stores and distributed to families in the community.

In addition to selecting a tag from an Angel Tree, Walmart customers can support The Salvation Army by rounding up their online purchase to the nearest dollar between Thursday, Nov. 4 through Tuesday, Dec. 28. Walmart shoppers can also donate to a storefront red kettle, which will return to participating Walmart locations on Saturday, November 20.

Last year, The Salvation Army of Metro Detroit provided the community nearly 205,000 Christmas toys and gifts for children and shut-in seniors through toy shops and other gift giving programs.

The Salvation Army’s 2021 Red Kettle Campaign fundraising goal is $8.3 million. In addition to participating in the Angel Tree Campaign, Salvation Army supporters can help support the nonprofit’s efforts by:
