The Salvation Army meets the needs of adults of all ages.

 

The Salvation Army helps adults in every stage of life address crises and identify pathways to success while providing them with love and hope.

We help adults overcome substance abuse, get out of poverty, and start over. Through programs designed to address the mind, body and soul, we meet the needs of adults of all ages.

Sometimes life hits you hard and you just need a hand up. The Salvation Army is there to show you the path to hope.

The Salvation Army provides resources and support for adults in our community through:

After-School Programs and Child Care
The Salvation Army community centers provide after-school programming to give youth and teens a safe place to complete homework, learn new skills and relax with their friends. 

Food Pantry
The Salvation Army of Hammond-Munster food pantry is open Mondays, Wednesdays & Fridays 9 - 11:30 a.m.; and Tuesdays & Thursdays 1 - 3:30 p.m. Food boxes may include shelf-stable pantry items, breads, cereals, meat and other household necessities. 

Pathway of Hope
Pathway of Hope is a comprehensive case management system that helps families identify barriers to self-sufficiency. Such as unemployment, insecure housing, lack of job skills, lack of childcare, etc. Pathway of Hope also helps address these barriers and connects families with community support organizations, and more.

Homelessness Prevention & Emergency Assistance Programs
The Salvation Army provides emergency assistance to help with mortgage/rent, utility bills, clothing, medication bills, and other needs in order to keep families in their homes. For more information or support: contact our Corps Community Center at 219-838-0380, find a location near you.

Music, Visual and Dramatic Education
The Salvation Army is the largest music educator in the world, with offerings in brass, vocal, guitar, drums and more. It is important to provide additional creative outlets for youth, teens and adults to share their experiences, hopes, dreams and fears. Classes are held Wednesdays during the school year.

  • Worship Band: 5:30 p.m.
  • Beginner Band: 6:30 p.m.
  • Ukulele: 6:30 p.m.

Harbor Light Center

Our Harbor Light Center offers professional and comprehensive treatment of substance use disorders, including sub-acute detox, short-term residential and outpatient treatment.

Adult Rehabilitation Centers
The Salvation Army Adult Rehabilitation Centers provide work-based therapy for substance abuse and support groups using the AA model, and spiritual counseling and education for a minimum of six months. Clients live onsite and work in Salvation Army Family Stores and other areas, while participating in a full range of treatment programs. in a full range of treatment programs.
