Ways that you can show your support for The Salvation Army's Holiday Mission taking place in your community:
Every year The Salvation Army is able to assist local people in need throughout the Holiday Season by providing a wide range of both broad & specific assistance services/programs. By giving your support through volunteering, fundraising, donating or sharing the word about our mission - those in need around your community can continue to have access to these life changing services & programs.
Some of the most common within the Heartland Division communities include:
The Holiday Season can bring added pressure to families and individuals throughout our local communities. The Salvation Army recognizes this need and offers emergency assistance with utilities, rent, and other costs. We are proud to make our mission proactive in serving those in need by preventing homelessness or poverty through these short-term assistance services.
When you're struggling financially to care for your family, holiday gifts are often not feasible. The Salvation Army Angel Tree program connects generous neighbors with local families in need by allowing them to purchase gifts, clothes and other items that can truly change lives during the Holiday Season.
The Salvation Army provides children, families and individuals with warm clothing, often with the help of other local agencies or partners. This service provides protection for those who may not be prepared for harsh weather conditions, as well as a reminder of Hope to those who are unable to purchase clothing for themselves or others. A warm hug is one of the strongest healing gestures and The Salvation Army brings this feeling throughout the Holiday Season by meeting everyone in need of clothing support.
The Salvation Army provides holiday meals for families and individuals unable to create a special meal themselves. These meals come in the form of food boxes or free community lunches/dinners. We know that hunger affects more than just the body, that is why we serve the soul of those in need too. A warm nutritious meal can be taken for granted by most throughout the Holidays but The Salvation Army works hard to ensure all who are hungry, are met by our mission in one way or another.
