Helping Those in Need Make Ends Meet

Hunger is a very real problem right here in the Kearney area. Approximately 12 percent of adults and 18 percent of children in Buffalo County are food insecure, meaning they often don't know where or how they'll get their next meal.

Our goal is that no man, woman or child in our community should go hungry. Our food pantry fills more than 5,000 grocery orders each year, and we serve individuals and families from seven counties: Buffalo, Custer, Dawson, Franklin, Harlan, Kearney and Phelps.

How We Help Cure Hunger

Food Pantry
Hours of operation:
Tuesdays from 3 - 5 p.m.
Thursdays from 2 - 4:30 p.m.

An estimated 81.5 percent of adults in Buffalo County eat fewer than the recommended five servings of fruits and vegetables each day. To help ensure a well-balanced diet, our food pantry offers fresh fruits and vegetables in addition to canned and packaged staples, meat and dairy items. Families are eligible to receive assistance every 30 days.

To supplement food needs between monthly visits, the pantry also offers bread and a selection of canned and packaged food on a weekly basis.

Christmas Assistance
We ensure that Christmas is bright and worry-free for families by providing food baskets and toys through our Angel Tree program.
