2016 Coats for Kids drive ready to kick-off

LA CROSSE – As the holiday season approaches, so does the cold winter weather, and there are many families who don’t have resources to keep warm.

That’s why the community is once again being asked to donate new or gently used coats, hats, mittens, scarves, snow pants, and other types of winter clothing as part of The Salvation Army’s annual Coats for Kids Campaign.  Donations will be given to children and adults in need in the La Crosse area.  The drive runs from Thursday, October 6th to Tuesday, November 8th.  Clothing for all ages will be accepted at the following drop-off sites:

  • The Salvation Army of La Crosse – 223 N. 8th Street, La Crosse
  • All Kwik Trips located in La Crosse, Onalaska, Holmen, West Salem, and Stoddard
  • Union State Bank – 120 Mill Street S., West Salem

New or gently used winter items for children and adults are accepted.  Large sizes (XL-XXXL) as well as Men’s gloves are in high demand.  Water proof gloves and mittens are preferred over knit.

Starting November 7th, Catholic Charities (413 3rd Street S., La Crosse) will distribute the donated items at the following times:

  • Mondays: 9:00a.m.-4:00p.m.
  • Tuesdays: 9:00a.m.-12:00p.m.
  • Wednesdays: 9:00a.m.-12:00p.m.

Donations will be handed out until supplies run out.  If you cannot make any of the times listed above, contact Catholic Charities at (608)782-0710 to schedule a time for pick-up.
