2019 Christmas Program distribution set for December 17th

Dec 17, 2019

LA CROSSE – The Salvation Army is set to hand out hundreds of Christmas presents and food baskets to families in need.
Tuesday, December 17th is The Salvation Army’s ‘Christmas Program Distribution Day’. Over 800 Christmas presents and 350 food baskets will be distributed between 9 in the morning and 6 at night.
Each present includes a brand-new outfit, and the food baskets contain the necessary items to make a traditional Christmas dinner as well as some extras to help families get by while their children are home from school for winter break.
Families that are signed up for the programs are of low-income and live in La Crosse County. Gifts were purchased by community members and organizations through various Angel Giving Trees throughout the La Crosse area. Many of the items in the food baskets were donated by local schools and churches.
Distribution will be held at The Salvation Army’s warehouse near Coca-Cola vending on La Crosse’s south side. Each program recipient will drive up, be given their items, and drive out. All food baskets and presents are pre-packaged.
The Salvation Army of La Crosse is partnering with other agencies to avoid the duplication of Christmas services. The goal is to provide as many people as possible with help during one of the hardest times of year.
