Feed the Kids - Summer 2022

The Salvation Army of La Crosse County has been reflecting on the positive engagements and our efforts to empower the youth of our community. Feed the Kids has been a beneficial program to the community, providing lunch in place of the meals they would usually receive during school. This supplemental meal program provided the necessary nutrients to empower the body and minds of our youth, a foundational component of their physical and mental health.

Since the beginning of June, we have been organizing volunteers and partnering with various organizations to help run the Feed the Kids program. The La Crosse Area Family YMCA Food Program organized the locations and programs. The Salvation Army transferred coolers full of lunches, via volunteers and TSA vehicles, to various locations around the La Crosse area. Our volunteers made daily stops to the Houser YMCA, Dahl YMCA Youth Center, Aptiv, and groups at Myrick Park, after picking up lunches prepared by Logan High School. We had excellent, consistent volunteers, totaling about 214 volunteer hours. They distributed over 7,000 meals to kids throughout the summer.

Feed the Kids was an important community resource, among the many happenings within the community. It’s important to continue supporting these efforts that improve and encourage the lives of our youth.
