Help for the Holiday: IBA Matching Red Kettle Donations
The Salvation Army's annual Christmas fundraising campaign will be getting a little help this week thanks to Indiana Business Advisors (IBA). Cash donations dropped into Red Kettles across the county December 5-7 will be doubled thanks to a generous $5,000 matching gift from IBA. The match is being offered with the hope that holiday shoppers might give a little more this year to make an even bigger impact in the lives of their neighbors in need.
On behalf of Indiana Business Advisors, Len and Sue Fulkerson shared their reason for supporting the charity through a Red Kettle match:
"We believe strongly in the ministries of the Lafayette Salvation Army. Indiana Business Advisors is thrilled to offer this Red Kettle match so our neighbors can double their impact to help people in Tippecanoe County facing challenges and bring new hope for a better life."
Inflation continues to tighten household budgets, which means that The Salvation Army has seen many more families walk through the door this year in need of help with rent, utilities, and food. In 2023, almost 54,000 meals were provided to those facing hunger in the community. The emergency assistance program also funded over 7,800 days of rental assistance, averting homelessness during times of great need. The funds raised by Red Kettles will help to ensure that The Salvation Army can continue to meet these increased needs while providing regular programming and services to children, families, and adults in the community.
"I would like to thank Indiana Business Advisors for their generous matching dollar donation of $5,000," said Major Marlys Anderson of The Salvation Army Lafayette Corps. "Every dollar given in our buckets over December 5-7 will go twice as far for helping our community thanks to you. Merry Christmas and God Bless you for being so compassionate and caring for others."
Shoppers looking for a Red Kettle this week will find bell ringers at Walmart, Sam's Club, Hobby Lobby, and near JCPenney and Kohl’s at the Tippecanoe Mall. Volunteer bell ringers are still needed to man every kettle the full three days of the match. Anyone interested in volunteering to ring a bell this week is invited to visit RegisterToRing.com and find a location, date, and time that works for their schedule.
Every donation given to The Salvation Army through the annual Red Kettle Campaign provides help and hope to those in need, and all gifts stay right here in the community where it is given.
