Harry "The Homeless Hippie" Gives Back

Jul 24, 2017 | by Vinal Lee

Recently Timothy Watt or as he calls himself: Harry "the homeless hippie" stopped into Madison. You can learn more about his story linked below.  While he was spending time in Madison, The Salvation Army had the opportunity to meet him and make sure he stayed well feed. The Salvation Army serves two meals a day Monday thru Friday. Residents in Jefferson County and the surrounding community meet at The Salvation Army where they are afforded some of the only hot meals they will receive all week. This ministry serves over 2,400 people a month and is making a major impact to stop food insecurity.

on July 24th The Salvation Army received a phone call to come down to the Jefferson County library where Harry "the homeless hippie" wanted to donate back funds that he raised while he was staying in Madison. He requested his donation be used in The Salvation Army's feeding program to help serve breakfast and lunch to those in need throughout our county.

We here at The Salvation Army are beyond blessed by his generous heart and we are grateful that we are able to serve everyone in our community. Harry is one of many examples of homeless veterans who eat with us every day. He is one of many examples of people who have experienced the care of The Salvation Army through one of our social ministries.

We encourage you to follow in the footsteps of Harry's generosity. Consider making a financial gift to The Salvation Army of Madison Indiana. You can drop off your gifts to our office or mail in gifts to 331 E Main St Madison IN 47250. A financial gift like the one Harry made help keep ministries like our feeding program operating.

Thank you, Harry "the homeless hippie"!
