Give online to help thousands of Chicagoland families receive Christmas dinner baskets.
Bell ringing is a great family volunteer opportunity because families with children of all ages can participate. Younger children can enjoy ringing bells and singing, and older children can learn about generosity and volunteerism. And ringing as a family is fun.
Registering to volunteer is easy. Visit RegisterToRing.com and pick your date, time and location that is most convenient for you. Then bundle up in your coats and hats, grab a cup of hot chocolate and warm up the vocal chords for some Christmas carols. And best of all – two shifts of two hours of bell ringing will raise enough money to feed a family of four!
Rather fundraise from your couch? Set up an online kettle and ask family and friends to donate. Same fundraising result – just in your pajamas!

Help make the holidays bright for children whose families can’t provide gifts. Visit our Virtual Angel Tree to pick an angel ornament with a child’s wish. Select an ornament, purchase a gift and ship it, unwrapped, to The Salvation Army. As you watch your children open their gifts with joy, you’ll know that you’ve made that exact feeling possible for another child.
Volunteers are always needed at The Salvation Army, and during the holidays they are even more valuable to help pack holiday meals to distribute to those in need, or wrap toys for children, or spreading holiday cheer. There are countless ways for you to give back to your community and offer the priceless gift of your time.
Visit our holiday volunteer page for more information.
Fight for good this holiday season by shopping online at the The Salvation Army’s Gift Catalog. You can transform the lives of those in need in the Greater Chicagoland area as your purchased gift is an online donation towards The Salvation Army social service programs.
Chicago gets dangerously cold in the winter, and many families don’t have the coats to keep them warm. You can donate your gently used or new coats to ensure they are protected from the cold. To donate to the Chicago Bears / Jewel-Osco Coat Drive, simply visit any Jewel-Osco location through January 1, 2018, to donate coats. The Salvation Army is in great need of coats for women and children although all coats are welcome.
