Thanks to Meridian, a $20 bill in the kettle, $20 tapped on a Tap to Give sign, or a $20 digital donation, will become $100. For every $20 donation, Meridian will donate $80, up to $15,000.
The $20 Challenge will start at midnight and end at 11:59 p.m. Saturday, Dec 9.
During the challenge, The Salvation Army of Metro Detroit is also participating in The National Commander's Red Kettle Challenge to help raise $2 million nationally.
Commissioner Kenneth G. Hodder, National Commander for The Salvation Army, is challenging Salvation Army officers, employees, community supporters and others to raise more funds than him in a four-hour shift on Friday, Dec. 9.
Major Toni Dorrell will be ringing from 10 a.m to 2 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 9.
