The 31st annual Letter Carriers’ Stamp Out Hunger® Food Drive To Be Held May 13, 2022
For 31 years, the National Association of Letter Carriers (NALC) has conducted an annual nationwide food drive, collecting non-perishable food donations along postal routes.
The Stamp Out Hunger food drive returns this spring on Saturday, May 13, 2023! Support our programs directly by making a donation in recognition of this annual event.
The Salvation Army here in Springfield, Missouri will need your help sorting the donations from Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive on Saturday May 13th at our main office at 1707 W Chestnut Expressway.
Food will be donated from anyone in the community who places a bag of food out by their mailbox to be picked up by their local mail carrier. Nationally about 70 million pounds of food is collected every year. The food that is brought to us will be utilized in our weekly client choice Food Pantry.
Volunteers can come and go between 1:30pm-6:00pm on Saturday, May 13, 2023.
We will also need your help to to continue sorting and boxing the food the following week, (May 15th through May 17th) Monday, Tuesday, or Wednesday to help sort the food from the 13th. Volunteers can come between 9:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. For Tuesday, we have extended our time to include some evening time: Volunteers may come in Tuesday: 9:00 a.m. to 6:30 p.m.
You do not need to sign up in advance to participate. On the day of the event come to the front middle door and follow signs to the volunteer check in table in our gym.
Snacks will be provided!
