"Reimagine 75: Fashion with a cause" Designer

WHO: Vivi Design Studio, Owner/ Designer, a children’s wear brand that aims to elevate the market in a more creative and connected way. Faculty member at the Sam Fox School of Design & Visual Arts at Washington University. Freelance designer. I started in fashion in the early 2000s, earning a bachelor’s degree in fashion design from Washington University and master’s degree in fashion merchandising from Academy of Art University in San Francisco. I have worked as a women’s wear designer, buyer, and visual merchandiser for J.Crew.

STYLE: Vivi was launched as an homage to my grandmother, Vivian, who taught me all about living life not only fashionably but fully. Vivi aims to elevate children’s wear to a realm of thought-provoking, creatively classic, and everlasting design, while fostering discovery, acceptance, and self-expression. The brand’s goals are to open children’s fashion to a more emotionally connected, intelligent, and artistic environment that allows healthy self-exploration.

INSPIRATIONS: I am inspired by characters from books, movies, and imagination. I love looking to stories and nature for inspiration. My favorite designers are Alexander McQueen and Simone Rocha.

CHANNELING: Anjelica Huston and the men’s wear-inspired looks she wore during her modeling height in the ‘70s.
