The Salvation Army recognizes that holidays can bring added financial and emotional stress for families in need. Consequently, we offer a variety of services to help families and individuals make it through more difficult holiday seasons:
Coats for Kids
ABC12 and WIOG are partnering with the Salvation Army to collect coats and cold weather gear to help keep needy children warm this winter. The collection began Oct. 3 and continues for five weeks until Nov. 7.
Look for Coats for Kids collection boxes are now out in a variety of malls, coffee shops, hospitals, banks, credit unions, and other businesses throughout the region.
Besides coats, the collection also is looking for hats, gloves, scarves, snow pants and more.
Families that need something warm are asked to contact or visit the Salvation Army office in their home county to sign up for assistance.
Community Thanksgiving dinner
The Salvation Army of Midland will be hosting its annual Community Thanksgiving Dinner on Wednesday, November 21, 2018 from 5:00 – 7:00pm.
The Community Thanksgiving Dinner is a free event, open to everyone in the community. An RSVP is not required to attend; however, we do appreciate them as they help us to plan accordingly. Please call 989-496-2787 for more information and to RSVP
Christmas Toy Shop
December 19th 10:00am – 6:00pm
All Families who receive Christmas Assistance through The Salvation Army must submit an application during our Registration process. The majority of applicants will be low-income parents of minor children. These applicants may be eligible to return to the Christmas Toy Shop (Toys for Kids) or be eligible for the Adopt a Family program.
