Why join our Advisory Board?

Being a member of The Salvation Army of Milwaukee County's Advisory Board can help bring your career to the next level and is a great addition to any resume. It is also a fantastic opportunity to give back to your community.

We want to grow our Advisory Board with dynamic community leaders who are willing to make a difference in the lives of those we serve in Milwaukee County.

Interested individuals will ideally possess the following qualities: creativity, willingness to share expertise and opinions, experience that can help us with our mission.

Board Member Responsibilities and Commitment

Board members will be required to adhere to the following expectations.

General Board Expectations

  • Respect the mission of The Salvation Army
  • Demonstrate a clear understanding of the local vision and strategic plan
  • Have a willingness to learn about this multi-faceted organization
  • Financial support
  • Payment of lunch fees
  • Financial support of at least one additional event or program per year
  • Volunteer/Attend at least one Advisory Board event per year
  • Accept and complete assignments
  • Protect confidentiality of agency matters, avoid conflicts of interest, and be loyal to The Salvation Army
  • Support and advocate The Salvation Army's mission, programs, and services in the community
  • Open doors that develop relationships and identify opportunities in the community
  • Serve as a liaison between The Salvation Army of Milwaukee County and the community
  • Provide focus and strategic vision for the Advisory Board and Corps
  • Demonstrate initiative, enthusiasm, and passion
  • Make two referrals of potential new Advisory Board members per year
