Kansas Gas Service Shares the Warmth
While writing a check each month to keep their own homes warm, hundreds of Kansas Gas Service customers are including a small donation on every payment to help people in need who may not be able to pay their bills during the blistering cold of Kansas winters.
The Kansas Gas Service Share the Warmth campaign collects donations throughout the year, and the One Gas Foundation matches customers’ contributions to make one large donation to The Salvation Army.
“We’re so proud to be able to support the community and the customers that are recipients of the funding,” said Margaret Steele, Manager of Community Relations with Kansas Gas Service. “We don’t want anyone to go cold, to go without heat during the wintertime.”
The funds will go towards paying utility bills year-round, so whether sub-zero cold or sweltering heat, those who need help making ends meet when the choice is between paying a bill and buying groceries have a place to turn.
Tracie Smith of The Salvation Army Social Services said, “People can contact their local Salvation Army location, we look at economic guidelines and need to determine how much help we can provide to make this valuable donation have the maximum impact.”
An impact that Kansas Gas Service is pleased to play a role. “It’s been a great partnership with The Salvation Army,” Steele said.
You can donate now to help people in need pay their utility bills throughout the year.
