Hope That Breaks Borders
When the unthinkable happens & all seems lost, the Lord is still there by our side – even in the darkest of times. But who answers His call and works in His name to meet those who are affected by disasters? The Salvation Army proudly, bravely stands in this role through our Emergency Disaster Services work that branches all over the world. This work was put to the test recently in response to Hurricane Dorian & the survivors all throughout the Bahamas.
With such devastation left in the wake of Hurricane Dorian, many survivors were left blessed to have their lives but lost on how to begin the healing. When this happens, The Salvation Army always tries to respond quickly, efficiently and in this case globally! The call for support was heard by every community around the world and donations began to come in from everywhere, including the Heartland Division.
We could not be more inspired and moved by the generosity and support we have seen for the hurricane survivors from all of our communities. This movement continues to grow each day as local Salvation Army staff, family, friends and volunteers all go to work in providing spiritual relief and long-term healing of the Bahamas. So far, the Heartland Division has contributed almost $30,000 to these efforts! The difference this makes cannot be overstated as every family, child and individual in need is being met thanks to this massive showing of support from you. From clean up kits/workers to food materials, every dollar that is given goes directly towards the greatest need presented in the aftermath of this disaster.
