Helping a family thrive starts by ensuring their basic needs are met, then walking alongside them on the path out of poverty. Our Pathway of Hope program does just that, through long-term case management for families with children under the age of 18. We also come alongside families by providing space for them to do life together at our Monroe Campus of Hope community center. Families receive the physical, emotional and spiritual support they need through our programs to foster better, brighter futures together. For children, this includes our after-school program, a safe place to play, summer camp, and more. For adults, this includes help with utility payments, a food pantry, free hot meals, and fellowship opportunities through our Men's, Women's, and Senior's Ministries.
Items needed for basic assistance:
Family Manor
In 2002, The Salvation Army of Monroe County opened the Family Manor - a safe place for single mothers, single fathers, single women, and families. We provide parents with a chance to get back on their feet and utilize the many different programs available to them through local agencies. We provide spiritual guidance and a chance to renew and strengthen their relationships with God. We have 12 rooms with a total capacity of 36. Contact Tamyka Tucker at 734-241-0440 for more information.
God Works Meal
Saturday at 6:00 p.m.
We hold a hot meal for anyone who needs one. Our doors are open to anyone. Contact our office at 734-241-0440 if you need any more information.
Food Pantry
Groceries are available 6 times a year on Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday. Guests must wait 30 days between visits. Application time will close 10 minutes prior to 12 p.m. and 4 p.m.*
*Bread and misc. items are available in our lobby during regular hours. Guests are asked to sign for these items at the reception desk. This is separate from what you receive as groceries.
Showers
Shower use is available Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. - 11:30 a.m. and 1 p.m. - 3:30 p.m. Please sign up at the front desk. A hygiene kit and towel will be available if needed.
Utility Assistance
By appointment only. In addition to the regular assistance documents, you must provide proof of income for the entire household and the last 4 digits of social security numbers of the children in the household. You will need to have either the bill or estimate of delivery fuel in your name.
Pathway of Hope
The Pathway of Hope is a holistic approach to working with families where caseworkers, instead of providing one time assistance, help people realize their interests and support them in identifying and achieving their goals through a well-defined timeline. We help families break away from the cycle of generational poverty and equip them with the tools and resources they need to reach their goals for a better future. Call our office at 734-241-0440.
