Auxiliary Captain Jim Prichard Joins The Salvation Army of Muskegon
The Salvation Army of Muskegon is pleased to welcome Auxiliary Captain Jim Prichard as the Assistant Corps Officer. In his role, A/Capt. Jim will be assisting with the pastoral ministry of the corps and helping with the day-to-day operations of the social services office. In the last five years, A/Capt. Jim has served as a Corps Administrator in Davenport, Iowa, and Pekin, Ill. A lifelong soldier of The Salvation Army, he studied at the College for Officer Training in Chicago. He has a passion for youth ministry and brass band music, both playing and teaching.
A native of Lansing, Mich., A/Capt. Jim first encountered The Salvation Army when he was eight years old, and his family moved into the neighborhood right behind the Lansing corps. That first Sunday, he recalls walking over for Sunday school and feeling at home ever since. The Salvation Army was his safe haven when home life was not the best.
Prior to joining The Salvation Army ministry, A/Capt. Jim studied business administration at Baker College before transitioning into the medical field. He was an emergency medical technician and a firefighter for just over 20 years. He also obtained his commercial driver’s license and drove a semi-truck.
The oldest of four siblings, A/Capt. Jim has four adult children and 13 grandchildren.
