The Salvation Army of Norfolk Opens Disaster Resource Center for Those Affected by Floods

Apr 3, 2019

The Salvation Army of Norfolk recently opened a Disaster Resource Center (DRC) at its corps building at 610 W. Norfolk Ave. Those affected by the recent flooding are invited to stop by to pick up flood-relief items and receive additional support if needed.

As people arrive at the DRC, they will meet with a Salvation Army team member and complete a brief intake form before being guided through the distribution area to select flood-relief supplies. Items available (while supplies last) include: bottled water, mops, buckets, shovels, rakes, bleach, work gloves, personal hygiene items, blankets and household cleaning supplies.

Those in need of flood-relief items are asked to bring a photo I.D. to the DRC.

Donations of flood-cleanup items will also be accepted at the Norfolk DRC.

The Norfolk DRC’s hours are as follows:

Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. - noon and  1 p.m. - 4 p.m.
Weekend pickups can be scheduled in advance by calling (402) 379-4663 to make an appointment.

The DRC will continue operations until further notice.

For more information about the DRC, please call (402) 379-4663.
