The Weekly Word - A Devotion for the Week of July 19

Jul 16, 2021

If you’ve ever eaten a plain rice cake, you would probably agree that they aren’t very tasty, and they don’t satisfy your hunger very well. In fact, they don’t even have much nutritional value. The lesson in our verse today warns us about filling our lives with metaphorical rice cakes – materialistic things and meaningless pleasures that won’t sustain us in the long run. Rather, the prophet Isaiah urges us, we should feast on God’s Word – which is filling, satisfying and always offers us something new.
