Toy donations needed for 16,000 children

Nov 22, 2024

You can Be the Light this Christmas season by donating toys for local children in need.

The Salvation Army Northern Division needs enough toys for about 16,000 children in the Twin Cities, and thousands more kids in Greater Minnesota and North Dakota.

In the Twin Cities, donations of new, unwrapped toys are being accepted at our partner locations (listed below) or giving online via our Stuff the Sleigh partnership with 5 Eyewitness News.

In North Dakota and Greater Minnesota, drop toys off at your local Salvation Army or shop online via our Angel Tree partnership with Walmart, which allows donors to purchase toys that Walmart will ship directly to your local Salvation Army.

While all toy donations are happily accepted, specific needs for this year’s toy distributions include:

  • Gifts and stocking stuffers for boys and girls ages 10–14
  • Toys for infants and toddlers
  • Toys for boys ages 3–5
  • Dolls for toddler girls

Your toy donations will bless families like Jonathan (pictured) and his two young daughters. Last year, the single father from St. Paul received toys for his kids after his hours were cut from his job in construction.

“I appreciate this helping hand," Jonathan said. "Now my kids can wake up on Christmas morning with a smile on their face. The Salvation Army goes above and beyond.” Read about last year’s toy distribution.

Donations of new, unwrapped toys are being accepted now through Dec. 15 at any Salvation Army Worship and Service Center in the Twin Cities and at The Salvation Army Northern Division Headquarters in Roseville, 2445 Prior Ave. N.

You can also donate at the following Twin Cities business locations participating in KSTP’s Stuff the Sleigh toy drive or by giving online

The Salvation Army will distribute donated toys in mid-December to more than 5,000 preregistered families in the Twin Cities. Families will also receive stocking stuffers and wrapping paper, along with basic needs items such as clothing and hygiene products for those who need them.

“Parents throughout Minnesota and North Dakota will struggle to afford gifts for their children this Christmas season,” said Lt. Col. Randall Polsley, leader of The Salvation Army Northern Division. “We kindly ask our supporters to give generously this year. Every child deserves a toy on Christmas morning.”
