Meet Teresa Christianson
Five years ago, Teresa Christianson listened intently as her sister, Sharon, told her about how much fun it was to volunteer at the Fargo Salvation Army, and how gratifying it felt to help others in times of crisis.
Soon after their conversation, Teresa signed up to volunteer for the Fargo Salvation Army’s Emergency Disaster Services team. She has been hooked ever since.
Teresa has gone on to perform all kinds of different volunteer activities, but serving on the disaster team remains her favorite. In this role, she provides food, beverages, cool towels, and other support for first responders and survivors at local fires, SWAT stand-offs, and other emergencies.
Teresa also volunteers by serving meals, answering phones, and assisting with all the major community events the Fargo Salvation Army hosts. She is so talented and reliable that the Fargo Salvation Army Social Services department requested her to assist caseworkers with support services such as managing the shower schedule, distributing PCK items and dispersing sack lunches where applicable.
“Teresa could help at a variety of organizations in the Fargo-Moorhead area, but she chooses The Salvation Army,” said Kristi Simmons, Volunteer & Public Relations Coordinator at The Salvation Army. “We are so thankful for the time she spends serving the community through the work of the Fargo Salvation Army.”
