When people move from living in a daily emergency to knowing they are home, then they can start to connect with other resources.
Once people can stop being panicked about what am I going eat, where am I going to sleep, they can start focusing on rebuilding their lives. Our 96-unit supportive housing complex offers low-income single adults and the chronically homeless an efficiency apartment complete with kitchen and bathroom and direct access to case mangers that can help them develop critical life skills.
Locking the door at night, using a private bathroom, decorating your own home – these are things most of us take for granted. But for our residents, these are luxuries they're afraid that they might never enjoy again. With us, they have these securities and then some.
HOPE Harbor is a 96-unit supportive housing complex in Minneapolis for low-income single adults and the chronically homeless. Each unit is an efficiency apartment complete with kitchen and bathroom. The five-story facility includes offices where case managers help residents with job searching, spiritual enrichment, addiction counseling, medical needs, budgeting, life skills and even provides activities like gentle yoga.
HOPE (Housing Opportunities for People to Excel) Harbor offers affordable rent to individuals with low income. Some residents are eligible to pay on a sliding scale that is equal to a third of their income. Though most residents stay just a few years, others make HOPE Harbor their long-term home. Apartment availability and application procedure varies based on the type of unit and your current housing situation. Some applicants, specifically those looking at our market rate units, can apply with us directly. Those who are currently homeless or having a housing crisis need to contact Hennepin County in order to apply (more information about Hennepin County emergency assistance).
