National Volunteer Week spotlight: Hannah Field revitalizing 'Echelon' young professionals group

Apr 18, 2022

National Volunteer Week is April 17-23, when people across the country come together to serve others and improve their communities. Feel the joy of helping others by signing up to volunteer for The Salvation Army.

Hannah Field, 23, is an ambitious young volunteer who is leading the charge to revitalize a Salvation Army young professionals group called Echelon

Echelon is a national society of men and women, ages 21 to 35, who advance The Salvation Army’s mission through fundraising, volunteering, social events, and networking.

The local chapter of Echelon had been growing rapidly until it was put on hiatus due to the pandemic. As the newest president of Twin Cities Echelon, Field aims to recapture that momentum. She is joined by a new leadership team she helped assemble.

“Right now we are making sure our goals and vision are set,” said Field, who works as a social media manager for an advertising agency. “We’re hoping to create some Echelon events going into late summer or fall.”

Until then, Echelon members are getting involved in ongoing Salvation Army fundraisers and volunteer activities, such as last month’s 2 Million Pounds food drive weigh-in event (pictured).

Field first met The Salvation Army while volunteering at last year’s 2 Million Pounds food drive. Soon after, she saw a social media post about Echelon that piqued her curiosity.

“By joining Echelon, I thought I could benefit myself and further my leadership skills while giving back to a charity I was interested in,” she said.

Field is proud to volunteer for The Salvation Army because she is enthusiastic about our mission.

“The Salvation Army is a such a massive, worldwide group,” she said. “At the same time, you can feel confident that the work being done locally benefits our neighbors, right here. It feels good knowing that our work improves the communities we see every day.” Learn more about Echelon.

Please join The Salvation Army by signing up to volunteer. With your help, we can show families in need that there is love beyond their most difficult hardships.
