Kettle on Demand at Berry and Bloom Farm

Sep 26, 2019 | by Rebecca Snapp

Local owners of Berry and Bloom Farm just outside of Rochester, MN, Troy and Rhonda had always wanted to be more involved with the works of The Salvation Army. Now, as empty nesters taking on their dream of a pick your own flowers garden and a blueberry farm that will supply all local schools with fresh blueberries next year, they found their perfect opportunity.

Rhonda called The Salvation Army in early September to see if she and her husband could host a red kettle at their farm, and invite members of the community to come and pick whatever flowers they wanted for the last two weekends of their "fall gleaning." Visitors piked the last of the flowers from the garden, and were asked to make a donation to The Salvation Army in return.

The kettle raised $515.00, and Troy and Rhonda have generously provided a matching gift to double that amount. The couple is looking forward to next year's flower season, and expect to open their garden to wedding parties and groups of friends in July, 2020. Anyone interested in fresh flowers for an event or their dining room table should definitely check out this farm!

All of us at The Salvation Army are grateful to anyone willing to host a kettle on demand, or during the red kettle season. Please call 507-288-3663 with any questions, and we'd like to issue a humongous thank you to Troy and Rhonda for their incredible support and generosity. We wish you many blessings for the blessing you are to us.
