The Rochester MN Salvation Army welcomes new Dental Clinic Coordinator

Feb 3, 2025

In Rochester, MN, The Salvation Army has been blessed by a nearly 25 years of partnership with local dental professionals in the form of the Good Samaritan Dental Clinic. Located in downtown Rochester, MN, the 'Good Sam Dental Clinic' provides tooth extractions, antibiotics, x-rays, and other essential dental services to get patients out of dental pain without an expensive visit to a local emergency room.

In 2024, the dental clinic treated 1,412 unduplicated patients, an increase of nearly 300 people in one year.

With such an increased need for emergent dental care, The Salvation Army is thrilled to welcome Shelley Fitzgerald to the Rochester, MN staff as the Dental Clinic Coordinator of the Good Sam Dental Clinic.

Shelley comes to the Good Sam with over 10 years of experience in dental offices in multiple states. In her own words, "I love being able to meet new people and build some good old-fashioned relationships in this industry. Patient care along with customer service are two of the reasons I look forward to going to work every day, and I'm excited to fulfill a role that encompasses all these things that light my fire."

One of Shelley's primary roles will be the coordination of dental clinic volunteers, including dentists, dental hygienists, and dental assistants from dental offices across Olmsted County. "The dental community members who volunteer their time for this clinic are truly the reason for the dental clinic's long-standing success," said Major Candace Voeller, Corps Officer of The Rochester Salvation Army. "Shelley is such a bright, joyful spirit, and we look forward to introducing her to the many volunteers who have made such a difference in peoples' lives through the Good Sam."

The dental clinic is always searching for licensed dental practitioners wiling to volunteer. "The more dental professionals we have, the more clinics we have, and that results in more patients being treated more quickly," said Major Candace.

"I look forward to meeting the many people who have been so instrumental in the good work of the dental clinic," said Shelley, "I welcome any questions about the clinic or about my professional background in the meantime."

The Salvation Army asks for the support of all Olmsted County in welcoming Shelley to this new role. More information about the Good Samaritan Dental Clinic, including the application for volunteers, can be found here or by calling 507-529-4100.
