We are here to help!

Rent, Utilities, and Other Basic Needs

We offer basic needs services including showers, toiletries, and clothing in our Social Services Center at 115 First Avenue NE. Through our main office, we can also provide housing guides and rental assistance, HeatShare utility assistance, transportation assistance to and from a job, and emergency motel vouchers. For more information call 507-288-3663 or stop by our Social Services Center weekdays between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m.

Rental Assistance Program                                                                                                                                                                     

We act as the last line of defense for individuals in jeopardy of losing their housing. To inquire about rental assistance, please contact our caseworkers at 507-288-3663, or stop in to our Social Services Center at 115 First Avenue NE to complete an application for rental assistance. 

HeatShare Program

Our HeatShare program assists those with shut off notices in hand, or who have already had their utilities cut off. To inquire about receiving utility assistance, please contact our caseworkers at 507-288-3663, or stop in to our Social Services Center at 115 First Avenue NE to complete an application for Heatshare utility assistance.

Gas Affordability Program

The Salvation Army is an administrator for the Gas Affordability Program (GAP) that provides qualifying customers of Minnesota utility companies with gas bill assistance. View the GAP program details and get help.

Emergency Transportation Assistance                                                                                                                                                   

We provide gas vouchers or bus passes to assist those who have started a job, but need assistance getting to work until they receive their first paycheck, as well as to stranded motorists in the Rochester area. To inquire about our emergency transportation assistance, please call 507-288-3663.

Resource Room                                                                                                                                                                            

Our social services center keeps basic needs items like shampoo, conditioner, toothbrushes, toothpaste, socks, new underwear, clothing, winter outerwear, and feminine hygiene products. These items can be accessed any time Monday-Friday from 8a.m.-4p.m. at our Social Services Center. With questions about these items, please call 507-288-3663.

Our caseworkers have strong connections with other local agencies, and are happy to refer those in need of services that we do not provide.
