Coats for Kids: How to give or receive a coat
Football, pumpkin-flavored everything, and brisker temperatures mean that fall has arrived.
Sadly, it’s only going to get colder. And with the falling mercury comes a rising number of children in need of a winter coat.
You can help kids stay warm this winter by donating new or gently used coats for children of all ages. Winter accessories such as hats, mittens, boots, and snow pants are also accepted.
Drop off your donation during weekday business hours at Salvation Army Northern Division headquarters (2445 Prior Ave. N., Roseville, MN) or at any Salvation Army Worship and Service Center in the Twin Cities, Greater Minnesota and North Dakota. Additionally, the following Twin Cities businesses are accepting coats through Oct. 11:
- Diversified Adjustment Services, 600 Coon Rapids Blvd. NW, Coon Rapids.
- Ideal Credit Union, with locations in Eagan, Hugo, Inver Grove Heights, North St. Paul, Stillwater, and Woodbury.
- Stephanie Fetzer State Farm Insurance, 5300 Hyland Greens Dr., Bloomington.
You can also help by donating $20, which the Twin Cities Salvation Army will use to buy a brand-new coat for a local child in need.
If you need a coat, read the information below to learn about our coat distributions in the Twin Cities, Greater Minnesota, and North Dakota.
* If you would like to receive a coat, you will need to bring picture ID, proof of address (bill statement or rent receipt from the last 30 days) and verification of child/children living in the household (SS card, medical card or tax form).
