Devotional: Seeking God’s plan

Do you ever wonder whether you are in the place God wants you to be? Do you find that no matter how hard you try, the satisfaction in your life — whether in your job, family or other commitments — just isn’t measuring up?
If you feel this way, it could be that you’re not paying close enough attention to God’s plan for your life. We are all brought into this world to glorify God by leveraging our unique strengths and talents to do His work. The problem is that sometimes we try to thrive where God doesn’t intend us to be.
Remember that God’s plan is always better than our own. If we fight against it, we resemble a misplaced weed in our garden. If we accept His direction, we become flourishing, fruitful plants in His garden. God leaves the choice in our hands.
How do we discover the path that God has set before us? Psalms 37:4 tells us to “delight yourself also in the Lord; and He shall give you the desires of your heart.” Listen to the desire in your heart. It is God who placed it in your heart for you to enjoy. Reach out to God in prayer and expect Him to help you find your purpose.
When you realize what you were created to do on Earth and you start doing it, you will find a life filled with happiness, joy and fulfillment.

Faith in Action
Jesus teaches us that one of the greatest things we can do with our time is to love others. You can see a wonderful example in John 13:34 (NIV). So make a point to ask those around you how they are doing. Get to know them. If you say you’re going to pray for them, don’t forget to follow through with it.
