Buy donuts at Coborn’s, Cash Wise stores June 5 – 7

Jun 2, 2014

Donating to The Salvation Army never tasted so good.

In celebration of National Donut Day, all Coborn’s and Cash Wise grocery stores in Minnesota and North Dakota will be selling Salvation Army-marked boxes of glazed donuts for $2.99 from Thursday, June 5 to Saturday, June 7. The stores will donate $1 to The Salvation Army for every 8-count box sold. Supplies are limited.

“We sincerely thank Coborn’s and Cash Wise grocery stores for joining in the spirit of what National Donut Day is really about – serving people in need,” said Lt. Col. Robert Thomson, Salvation Army Northern Division Commander.

Donut-Girls-300x200The Salvation Army started National Donut Day during the Great Depression to raise funds and awareness for Salvation Army social service programs. The celebration commemorates Salvation Army “donut lassies” who served donuts to American soldiers battling on the front lines of World War I.

National Donut Day will be held across the nation on Friday, June 6.
