DJ Bonics donates 1,600 hoodies to Twin Cities Salvation Army

Feb 19, 2020

Famous DJ and Go Radio 95.3 personality DJ Bonics yesterday donated nearly 1,600 hooded sweatshirts to the Twin Cities Salvation Army.

He dropped off the hoodies at Booth Brown House in St. Paul, a Salvation Army housing facility for formerly homeless young adults ages 18-24. The Salvation Army will distribute the hoodies to residents of Booth Brown House (pictured right) and to hundreds of people served by our service centers and housing facilities across the Twin Cities.

“During the winter months we often see youth who are not dressed appropriately for the weather,” said Booth Brown House director Erin Foss, noting that on any given night there are an estimated 6,000 homeless youth in Minnesota. “A donation like this will allow us to help ensure all youth who come through our doors have something warm to wear.”

To date, DJ Bonics has collected nearly 5,700 hoodies as part of his “10,000 Hoodies for 10,000 Lakes” drive. He started the drive in October to raise awareness about the large number of Minnesotans who are affected by the harsh winters here, and to remind people that we all have something to give.

“There are people in our community who aren’t as blessed, and we must help our neighbors,” said DJ Bonics (pictured holding sign), whose drive has collected an average of 60 hoodies a day locally and from all over the country and world, including Amsterdam and India. “A big thank you to The Salvation Army for accepting the donations for their shelters in Minneapolis and St. Paul.”

DJ Bonics’ donation comes just one week after he performed with famous rapper Wiz Khalifa on Jimmy Kimmel Live to promote the movie Sonic the Hedgehog (watch performance). DJ Bonics has worked as Khalifa’s official DJ for the past 10 years.

DJ Bonics is a regular supporter of The Salvation Army. He has appeared in advertisements for local Salvation Army Stores and he is planning to promote our upcoming Lent Challenge, which kicks off next week.
