Donations doubled by Thrivent Financial Friday
Roseville, Minn. – Every donation dropped into a red kettle or made online in the Twin Cities on Friday, Dec. 4 will be doubled, up to $75,000, by Thrivent Financial. This is the largest corporate kettle match ever for the Twin Cities Salvation Army. Thrivent is helping raise $150,000 in one day, in honor of The Salvation Army’s 150th anniversary. In addition, many kettles will be staffed by Thrivent employees and members.
“We know that generosity and making a difference in the lives of others helps keep the focus on things that matter, and that is especially true during the holiday season,” said Katie Knutson, Senior Community Relations Specialist for Thrivent Financial. “We are pleased to celebrate the Salvation Army’s 150th anniversary of helping those in need in our communities and look forward to their continued impact.”
The match comes at the perfect time for the Twin Cities Salvation Army, which still needs to raise more than $9 million by the end of the year, in order to meet its $11.6 million goal.
“We set an ambitious goal this year,” said Major Jeff Strickler, Twin Cities commander. “But thanks to this generous donation from Thrivent, we are that much closer to achieving it.”
Donations can be made at any red kettle in the Twin Cities or donors can give online on Friday to be part of the match.
Realtor Ring Day
Along with volunteers from Thrivent, Minnesota Realtors will be ringing for 250 hours at the kettles today, in honor of Realtor Ring Day. It’s a nationwide event with roots in Minnesota and North Dakota. Since 2010, Realtors have given thousands of hours of their time at Salvation Army kettles.
