Donations to Williston Salvation Army short $32k

Dec 20, 2017

WILLISTON, N.D. – The local Salvation Army’s Christmas fundraising campaign is running dangerously behind. As of Dec. 18, total donations to the Williston Salvation Army had reached only $84,500. On the same date last year, total donations were just over $116,500.

“That’s a shortage of $32,000,” said Captain Cappy Moore, co-leader of the Williston Salvation Army. “Without help, we won’t reach our $183,000 Christmas fundraising goal.”

If the goal isn’t met by Dec. 31, programs could suffer in 2018. Money raised during the Christmas season accounts for the bulk of the Williston Salvation Army’s yearlong budget, fueling programs that provide food, clothing, transportation assistance, and other critical services for locals in need.

“Thank you to all who have given to the Williston Salvation Army so far this Christmas season,” Moore said. “We humbly ask for a strong boost of support between now and the New Year.”

Giving to the Williston Salvation Army is easy:

  • Donate online. Your credit card gift will be allocated to the Salvation Army location nearest your billing ZIP code.
  • Give at a kettle or sign up to bell ring. Bell ringers raise an average of $30 per hour. The last day of the kettle season is Saturday, Dec. 23.
  • Call 800-SAL-ARMY (725-2769) to make a credit card donation.

Poverty is an everyday battle. People experiencing poverty are not without hope – their lives are just harder than they should be. The Salvation Army is helping to make their lives a little easier, thanks to your gifts of time and money. Join us in the fight for good by giving online or donating at a red kettle, becoming a volunteer bell ringer, or recruiting your own army as a fundraiser on RedKettleReason.org.
