Enhanced quality of life at the Adult Day Program in Rochester
Walking into the Caring Partners Adult Day Program building in Rochester, Minn., you never know what you will find. As a supportive program providing specialized care throughout the day, they host a variety of activities to make each visit a fun experience.
For instance, walking in you might be greeted with silence. Suddenly a booming voice calls, “B-4.” It’s Bingo time! Or a couple of weeks ago you would have been greeted with silence for a different reason – everyone was out fishing and enjoying the beautiful summer weather with the assistance of the Minnesota DNR. From day trips to antique stores, to musical performances, to chapel time – there is always something going on for guests at the Caring Partners Adult Day Program.
Over the course of the summer, different Summer of Service (SOS) groups are visiting as well. SOS is a summer program designed to provide youth with team-building summer activities. They enjoy hands on experiences to create solutions for needs within our community. They volunteer at a variety of places, including the Adult Day Program.
It’s a special treat to have visitors come in to play games, paint nails and share a snack. Kids take the initiative to ask guests to play bean-bags or paint someone’s nails. Adults jump right in offering a round of Uno. They work together on a craft or share a story or two. For a couple of hours, everyone is busy seeking new activities to fill the afternoon. You look around the room and smiles are everywhere.
Each activity is an opportunity to live up to the Caring Partners mission to increase the quality of life through a supportive day program for adults who are either physically- or mentally-challenged, promoting independence and empowering each individual to remain in a community setting.
