The Army continues to serve in flooded counties

The Salvation Army is continuing to support Southern Minnesota communities affected by the flooding last week.
Volunteers and staff will be serving water, coffee and food to everyone who is working tirelessly in Albert Lea, Waseca and in Blue Earth County this weekend.
After bringing cots for up to 25 members of Team Rubicon to sleep on at a school in Waseca, the Army is also providing a hot breakfast and lunch each day.
Five counties in southern Minnesota declared a state of emergency due to flooding and The Salvation Army is on the front line providing aid and cleanup kits.
Since the rain hit last Wednesday, Sept. 21, The Salvation Army in Austin, Albert Lea and Waseca areas have provided hundreds of cleanup kits for homeowners. In Waseca, where rains measured nearly 14 inches, more than 200 flood cleanup kits have already been distributed to homeowners, with more available for people who need them.
Albert Lea homeowners received another 116 cleanup kits and 56 more were distributed in Austin.
“Immediately after the rain we had volunteers asking how they could help and the best way to help in Waseca County is to call the volunteer hotline at 507-835-9700,” explained Jan Karasch, Salvation Army Service Extension administrator.
To volunteer in Freeborn County, call the Albert Lea Salvation Army at 507-373-8776.
